In the days after a flood event, it can be very overwhelming. Take a deep breath and a shot of courage, then put your big boy/girl pants on, chuck aside the useless self-pity and get to work. Be patient, work diligently, help your neighbors and look for the rainbow.
PERKS TO FLOODING: For me, after every flood event we’ve lived through, there were always a few unexpected perks. My basement was finally cleaned out of all the junk I had been collecting. The floors that had been nicked up from my boys crashing matchbox cars across them were replaced with new ones. The neighborhood came together in a shared moment of adversity to work together and help one another. You get the picture.
